“The New One Minute Manager” — Book Review
I was recently recommended the book “The New One Minute Manager,” and the book ended with asking, “if you found the advice in the 3 Secrets given by the New One Minute Manager helpful, share it with others.” I am deciding to do just that by sharing this review.
Many might have noticed the pivot away from traditional Top-Down people or result-focused approach management styles in some of the companies they have worked with; if not, this could be the moment you were looking to help introduce a new/updated approach to management.
This book’s 3 Secrets focuses on goals development, optimally timed praise, and level redirects. You might be thinking that those are the same thing all companies use; you develop their goals, praise them when they meet them, and if not, reprimand them if they don’t complete them. While this might have similar components, it is all about the approach.
This book is a quick weekend read and highly recommended. And “if you found the advice in the 3 Secrets given by the New One Minute Manager helpful, share it with others.” The included image below is a mind map of the book in the Game Plan, which highlights all the reasons why it might be similar but is different.
